GO-Global for UNIX FAQ

 

 

  1. What are the components of GO-Global for UNIX?

    GO-Global for UNIX consists of two parts: the GO-Global server software and the GO-Global client software. The GO-Global server software runs on a central UNIX or Linux server along with the application being published. Each client device runs one of the GO-Global client software modules which are available as native thin clients or as browser plug-ins.

 

  1. Where can I find the Windows client within the GO-Global for UNIX distribution?

    The Windows client (go_setup_2_1_X_build.exe) is located in the $GOGLOBAL_ROOT/htdocs directory. It can also be found online at http://www.graphon.com/download/client.shtml

 

  1. Where can I find GO-Global for UNIX documentation?

    Our Administrator Guide, Release Notes, and other documentation are available on our Documentation page.

 

  1. Can I publish an entire desktop?

    Yes, GO-Global for UNIX can be used to publish UNIX or Linux applications or the entire desktop.

 

  1. Do I need to install or use a specific Web server to use GO-Global for UNIX?

    No, GO-Global for UNIX does not requires a Web server. However, a Web server is useful for distributing the GO-Global thin-client software.

 

  1. How can I tell which version I am running?

    On the server, you can issue the following command: # /usr/local/bin/Xgo –version. On the Windows client, the ‘Help -> About’ screen will tell you which version is in use.

 

  1. Where can I find GO-Global for UNIX diagnostics and log files?

    In GO-Global for UNIX v2.0 and v2.1, the primary server diagnostics are logged to a file called “gold.log” in the /usr/local/etc/ directory. Specific session information is logged in a “hidden” sub-directory of the users’ home directory to the following file: $USER/.graphon/session-logs/goglobal-{hostname}:x In GO-Global for UNIX v2.2 and later, the log file paths, as well as how verbose the logging is, are configurable in the masterlog.conf, leaderlog.conf, and sessionlog.conf configuration files in the /usr/local/etc/ directory.
